When using the OSEmbed plugin in Joomla, you expect to paste a URL and see it turn into an embedded video, map, or document. But if you're using the JCE editor, you will see a regular hyperlink instead:
This happens because JCE's Autolink URLs setting automatically converts URLs into links, preventing OSEmbed from embedding them properly:
Luckily, you can easily disable this setting to restore the expected functionality.
- In your Joomla admin dashboard, go to Components > JCE Editor > Profiles.
- This will bring you to the JCE - Editor Profiles screen. Click Default:
- You will see the Edit Profile screen with four tabs. Click the Plugin Parameters tab:
- Locate the Link icon on the left bar and click on it:
- Scroll down, locate the Autolink URLs parameter and set it to No.
- Click Save or Save & Close.
- You might see the following error message:
You can report it to the JCE team. But the good news is that despite throwing this error message at you, your JCE Editor has not crashed.
It successfully set your Autolink URLs parameter to No for you and continued operating normally. You can check it by returning to the parameter.
