When Will Joomla 3.7 Be Released?

The stable release of Joomla 3.7 is here!

In a series of blog posts over the last few months, we've covered some of the most important new features in Joomla 3.7:

Add articles with menu links

When you're creating a menu link, and choose "Single Article", you'll now see a "Create Button.

Easily create categories from inside articles

You can create new Joomla categories from inside articles, just as you can currently create new tags:

Sort articles by rating and hits

In the Article overview screen, you can now see the Votes and Ratings for each article. Click the column headings, and you can sort by those criteria:

Drag-and-drop extension uploads

Go to install a new extension, and you'll be able to drag-and-drop files to upload:

A flat redesign for the administrator area

In Joomla 3.7, the admin interface has been tweaked, using flat design principles:

Login to the Frontend and Admin area together

Inside Global Configuration, there's an option that allows users to log in to the frontend and administrator area at the same time. This "Shared Sessions" feature should make life easier for your site's administrators.

Customize your TinyMCE features

This feature allows you to customize the default editor. You can open the TinyMCE editor plugin and add, move or remove buttons.

The future of Joomla 3 and Joomla 4

The current plan is for two more Joomla 3 releases. This means that Joomla 3.9 will be the last in the Joomla 3 series. According to feedback from the Joomla developers, we could expect Joomla 4.0 to arrive around six months after Joomla 3.9.
