Wow, time really flies. This February marks the 20th anniversary of our OSDownloads extension. It feels like just yesterday that we created this Joomla extension to make it easy for people to download ebooks in exchange for an email address.
OSDownloads History
OSDownloads was originally developed back in February 2005 when we were running Alledia.com, which later became JoomlaTraining.com and then OSTraining.com. Yes, it's been a long journey! We needed a simple yet effective way to share valuable resources while growing our community. People could enter their email address and get a free ebook or Joomla template.
In 2016, we acquired Joomlashack.com and started using OSDownloads to manage the extension downloads. If you download either a Free or Pro extension here at Joomlashack.com, that is all handled by OSDownloads.
Over the years, OSDownloads has evolved with Joomla, surviving the jump to Joomla 1.5, Joomla 3, Joomla 4, and now Joomla 5. Whether you're sharing free extensions, ebooks, or any other downloadable content, OSDownloads stil makes the process smooth and hassle-free.
