Shack Locations is based on FocalPoint, an excellent extension, originally developed by John Pitchers.
Two of our extensions already support Google Maps. Both OSEmbed and Shack Toolbox allows you to show Google Maps in Joomla.
However, the FocalPoint extension goes much, much further.
With FocalPoint, you can create advanced map-based directories with custom legends, markers, infoboxes and hundreds of locations. You can define the content for each location using CCK functionality. You can also give your users the ability to search and filter all the locations.
Shack Locations is a powerful directory
Shack Locations is not just a great mapping extension, it's an awesome map-based directory. Each location has a dedicated page. You can also assign locations to multiple categories and configure different location types.
Shack Locations allows you to categorize your locations into multiple categories. Some locations just can’t be pigeonholed. For example, the local YMCA has a swimming pool, gym, childcare center, and cafe. So do you define it as a sporting venue, aquatic center, childcare or place to eat? How about all of the above? With Shack Locations, it's not a problem.
Each location can optionally be represented with its own page routed via a full search engine friendly (SEF) URL. The page URL will contain the map name and location name. Furthermore, you get to define the fields that make up the content for each location type.

About the new Shack Locations
In addition to a rebranding, we've fixed several reported security issues and bugs that hadn't been updated in FocalPoint.
Shack Locations is available in both Free and Pro versions. The Pro version has several additional features:
- The "Location Map for Shack Locations" module. This displays a Shack Locations map in a module position.
- The "Search - Shack Locations" plugin. This plugin ensures your site visitors can use the Joomla core search functionality to search your Shack Locations maps.
- The "Fullscreen for Shack Locations" plugin. Enable HML5 fullscreen API to enable viewing the map in fullscreen mode.
- The "Map Styles for Shack Locations" plugin. Customize the color scheme of your Shack Locations maps with Snazzymaps.com. This plugin loads color schemes directly from Snazzy Maps. Your chosen color scheme will be used as the default style for each Shack Locations map.
- The "Fitbounds for Shack Locations" plugin. This enables Google API fitbounds method so you can auto zoom and pan maps to contain all your active locations.
- The "Marketclusters for Shack Locations" plugin. Enable Google API markerclusters methods to add clustering functionality to maps.
