Google authorship integrates Google+ with the articles created inside your Joomla website.
This can give more exposure to your social profile because you are listed in Google search results as the author.
It may possibly lead to more click throughs from people who see your photo and trust the result. It may also lead Google to rank your content more highly because they know the content is from a trustworthy source.
In this blog post, we'll show you how to integrate this Google authorship into your Joomla site.
Step #1. Install SD Google Authorship
We're going to use a plugin called SD Google Authorship. Here's an example of the end-product we hope to see in search results:

- You will get a file named plg_sdgoogleauthorship_UNZIPFIRST.zip.
- Extract this file to get the available versions for Joomla 1, 2 and 3.
- In your Joomla administrator, go to Extensions >> Extension manager >> Upload package file
- Browse to find the zip file and click the Upload and Install button.
- If everything is fine you will see this succes message:
Be sure the plugin is enabled by going to Extensions >> Plugin manager >> System - SD Google Authorship
Step #2. Add your Google+ link to Contacts
- The SD Google Authorship plugin using the default Contacts component. So, go to Extensions >> Contacts >> Contact >> and either create a new contact or edit an existing one.
- Set the Linked User field to link to your user account.
- Set the Website field using your own Google+ profile URL. For example: https://plus.google.com/+SteveBurge
- Complete the other fields as you need and click Save & Close.
Step #3. Register your site with Google
- Go to https://plus.google.com/authorship and add your Joomla site's URL to your profile.
- Google says it will take between several days to several weeks before it starts showing your photo and profile information in search results.
