The Joomla Extensions Directory provides millions of visitors with thousands of extensions.
There's currently work underway to provide access to the JED directly from the administrator area of Joomla sites. The plan is for Joomla users to be able to install extensions directly from their site.
Currently there's no firm deadline for the launch of the app store, but much of the code is written and you can see it in action already. Here's a video and some screenshots to whet your appetite.
